Top 10 tips for a successful children’s party
- Obvious it may seem but prepare, prepare, prepare. Make a well thought out list, starting with the party theme and onwards is crucial for a successful and stress free party.
- Start early and shop for the essentials, children’s party entertainers, balloons, paper plates, banners, party bags or boxes, party invitations and party gifts for the children to take home.
- Make sure you have lots of support. Even if it’s just keeping the mums and dads happy with a cup of tea. Delegate a role to all your helpers.
- Run the party through your head. ie if you are having a 2 hour party. Ensure you have plenty of eating time. For the first hour and fifteen it’s arrival and play. Either a bouncy castle, or magic show. Half an hour for food and drinks. A bit of quite time. Leaving them 15 minutes of play.
- Clear up as you go along.
- How much is this all going to cost? Part of your preparation should include a budget. How many are invited, at home or hire a premises. If money is tight, stick to a budget.
- All parties are expensive regardless if you are having it at home or are hiring premises. It’s much easier and less hassle if you can afford to hire a playcentre or party premises where everything is done for you. All you have to do is bring the birthday girl or boy, a cake and black bag for all the presents.
- Have games or activities all ready for when the children arrive. It will make them feel a lot more settled.
- If you are going to use name labels make sure the adults use them too.
- Plan for emergencies too. Ensure you have all the parents emergency contact details and if one of your helpers is a first aider then even better!
